Enhance your New Zealand airports with this scenery package for FSX featuring Tauranga Airport!

Welcome to the Bay of Plenty! With a population of 110,000, Tauranga is the main economic centre of the Bay of Plenty. Its climate makes it a very popular holiday destination, especially Mount Maunganui which has a reputation as one of the best holiday stops in the North Island. Mt Maunganui, or Mauao, is a very prominent landmark standing guard at the entrance to the harbour.

Legend has it that Mauao began as a nameless inland hill, a slave to a mountain called Otanewainuku. He fell in love with a hill called Puwhena, but her heart belonged to his master, Otanewainuku. In despair Mauao decided to drown himself, and enlisted the help of the nocturnal fairy folk to drag him to the sea. However the fairies were unable to finish the task before the sun rose, and abandoned Mauao before he could throw himself into the sea. To this day he has been known as Mauao, which means ‘caught by the dawn.’

Tauranga Airport
Tauranga Regional Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country, surpassed only by the three international airports. It is located only 2 kilometres from Tauranga City.
Tauranga Airport is home to the Classic Flyers collection and museum. You can take a scenic flight in their Boeing Stearman biplane, a CT4B Air Trainer, or a M*A*S*H Bell 47 helicopter.

Compatibility
This scenery is designed for, and compatible with, Microsoft Flight Simulator X SP2. This version 2.1 adds compatibility with Orbx FTX NZNI. Version 2.1 does not include the City aerial image, as this was based on a colourised black and white aerial image, which does not compare to current enhanced scenery for New Zealand.
