Real New Zealand/Vector Land Class Nelson Airport and City for FSX.
The city of Nelson (Whakatu), is nestled in Tasman Bay at the top of the South Island. Nelson is considered to be the sunniest place in New Zealand, although this title is fought over by a number of cities. It is certainly a popular holiday destination for South Islanders, and is the gateway to the Tasman area, with its beautiful beaches, bush and attractions such as the Abel Tasman National Park.
Nelson is proud of a number of ‘firsts’, including being the oldest settled city in the South Island, but more importantly, New Zealand’s first game of rugby was played here!
Nelson Airport is the fourth busiest airport in New Zealand, averaging 90 aircraft movements per day. This flight simulator scenery is built on an aerial image of the city, at 50 centimetres/pixel resolution, resampled to 60 cm/ px, and the airport itself is built on a 10cm/px image, resampled to 15cm/px. These images were supplied by the Nelson City Council, who have been a great help in putting this together.
The airport model was built based on approx 1,500 photos taken over two trips to Nelson earlier this year. This is the first major airport release designed to complement Vector Land Class, the definitive land class, topographic and elevation mesh upgrade for New Zealand. Although Real NZ Nelson does not require Vector Land Class installed, it does benefit from it, and is designed first and foremost for use with VLC. The scenery does require VLC libraries, which are included with this scenery.
